Trafilerie Carlo Gnutti S.p.A. embraces a responsible business model, with the aim to ensure sustainable development that is highly attentive to the health of the planet and the well-being of society through energy-efficient technologies and processes, responsible management of water resources, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, committing to promote the well-being of people within the organization through the creation of a safe and inclusive work environment.
A voluntarily drafted report outlining our concrete commitment to an increasingly sustainable and responsible governance and business model, one that strives to lessen his enviromental impact, create a safer and more inclusive workplace and improve community well-being.
Trafilerie Carlo Gnutti S.p.A., through the adoption of state-of-the-art fumes abatement systems with continuous monitoring of filtration performance and following specific maintenance programs, has significantly reduced atmospheric emissions, keeping them well below the already stringent limits stipulated by the Integrated Environmental Authorization.
Over the years, Trafilerie Carlo Gnutti S.p.A. has equipped itself with photovoltaic systems with a peak capacity of 7 MWp, aiming to reduce dependence on traditional energy sources and contribute to avoid the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
We strive to minimize water consumption. The new systems for treating process and rainwater have been designed and implemented to allow for their recovery in production processes, such as cooling water and conditioning systems for work environments as vector fluids. Unused water is returned to the environment, adhering to regulatory limits.
Through specific processes of characterization, pretreatment, and preparation, Trafilerie Carlo Gnutti S.p.A. reuses both internally generated scrap and those derived from customer processes, reintroducing them into the smelting cycle, allowing the production of new semi-finished products without relying on the use of virgin raw materials. We indeed recover 100% of our waste and produce semi-finished products with over 90% recycled raw materials.
“The company, in its continuous pursuit of efficiency and sustainability in production processes, has recently installed:
-New boilers for the production of hot water for pickling and a related insulated distribution line, resulting in a 55% natural gas savings.
-New air-cooled compressors for compressed air production, optimizing the distribution network with expected savings of 3,500,000 kWh/year.
-New Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems that, through a closed thermodynamic cycle, enable the production of energy from high-temperature heat sources, around 900 °C, such as process fumes generated by the brass turning drying process. This technology allows the utilization of heat sources that would otherwise remain unused, has a nominal capacity of 3MW electric, and enables a further reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 1000 tons/year.”
